The fifth summer of the Diversity in the Arts Internship kicks off on June 5! Throughout the summer, our cohort of 9 interns will head to cultural organizations across the metro area to gain hands-on experience—from program delivery to event production to volunteer management, and more. Read below to learn about the host sites where our interns will be working this summer!

The 2022 cohort during an orientation workshop led by Creative Strategies for Change

Lighthouse Writers Workshop

Lighthouse Writers Workshop provides the highest caliber of artistic education, support, and community for writers and readers in the Rocky Mountain Region and beyond. Their intern will support the production of Lit Fest and assist with community engagement and summer camp programs.

Center for Visual Arts - MSU Denver

Center for Visual Art (CVA) leverages bold exhibitions, innovative education programs and entrepreneurial workforce development programs to provide access to diverse, high-quality art experiences that advance the global urban dialogue. The intern at CVA will engage with visitors to the gallery space and assist with communications, art installation, and events.

Creative Strategies for Change

Creative Strategies for Change (CSC) mission is to mobilize arts and education for social justice. They do this through community and youth programs, interactive performances and workshops, consulting, leadership and professional development. The intern at CSC will support programming, marketing, and development efforts.

Curious Theatre Company

Curious Theatre Company engages the community in important contemporary issues through provocative modern theatre. Their intern will support marketing and ticket sales efforts, as well as participating in the planning and execution of the annual benefit in June.

Rainbow Dome

Rainbow Dome is an ever-evolving project rooted in visual art and community building. Their recent events include roller-skating and dance party pop-ups centered around art and creating LGBTQ+ friendly spaces. The intern at Rainbow Dome will learn the ins and outs of creative business and event production.

Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities

The Arvada Center celebrates and elevates the human condition with engaging arts, humanities, education, and entertainment that expand the cultural landscape for everyone who visits us. Their intern will create social media content, collect marketing data, and strategize DEI-forward communications.

City of Lakewood

The Heritage, Culture and Arts division of the City of Lakewood enriches and inspires people through places and programs that engage, celebrate and build

community. Their intern will create a specialized plan for the summer based on the area they are most interested in, including events, exhibitions, youth programming, musical and theater offerings, and historic collections.

Museo de las Americas

Museo De Las Americas is dedicated to educating our community through collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the diverse arts and cultures of the Americas, from ancient to contemporary, through innovative exhibitions and programming. The intern at Museo will assist with summer education programs and collections management.

Denver Botanic Gardens

Denver Botanic Gardens connects people with plants, especially plants from the Rocky Mountain region and similar regions around the world, providing delight and enlightenment to everyone. The intern at the Gardens will support the volunteer program.
